Coacher: Carissa Yip, youngest US Female Master

Carissa Yip learned to play chess from her dad in 2010. In November of that year, she started her first tournament, and was soon considered the rising chess prodigy in the country. Since then, she has been invited to represent the United States to compete in the World Youth Chess Championship every year. In 2013, she was tied for 2nd in the world youth chess championship, defeating the European Champion and the Russian Champion. In the summer of 2013, she broke the US record to become the youngest female expert in the country, and in Feburary of 2015, she broke the US record to become the youngest female chess master in the country. She was also the youngest female in the world to defeat a grandmaster. Her achievements have been reported in TVs, and newspapers nationwide and internationally. Because of her chess achievement, she was invited by the Senate to the State House, and became the first kid in MA to receive an official citation from the Senate based on her intellectual achievement.
